Restoring Connections 2019
The Restoring Collections team was made up of six University of Oregon students. Over the span of six months the Restoring Connections team built and facilitated environmental education curriculum for elementary school children at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum.

The curriculum we created was built for 4th grade students with a focus on the riparian habitat. We designed both introductory classes and all day field trips for fall, winter and spring. We focused on species that inhabit the riparian system to create a personal connection and inspire a passion for conservation.

We were able to reach 15 classes over the span of 10 weeks. Every Tuesday we would go into the class and preform a 30-40 minute pre-trip lesson, in which we got the students excited and ready for the trip. On Thursdays we would meet them out at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum for a field trip from 9-2 o'clock, in which we immersed students in their focal habitats by guiding them through specific trails of the arboretum.
